Fit File Editor

Privacy

The short version: your files never leave your browser, and the site keeps only a plain count of what people do on it.

Your files

Every file you open is read, edited and exported inside your browser. It is never uploaded, and nothing from it is sent anywhere: not the file, not its name, not your route, not your heart rate. Close the tab and it's gone from the page.

What the site counts

To learn which pages help and where the editor gets in the way, the site keeps its own small log of events, such as "a page was viewed", "a file was opened", "an edit was made" or "a file was exported". Each event records:

  • the event's name and the page it happened on
  • the site or search engine that sent you, when there was one
  • whether the screen was phone-sized, and your browser's language
  • a few details about the event itself, like which kind of edit, or a rough file size such as "1 to 5 MB"
  • a random visit id, kept in your browser's local storage, so one visit's events can be read together. It is replaced after 30 minutes without activity and isn't linked to you.

The log stores no IP addresses, no names or emails, and sets no cookies. Events are deleted after 13 months. The log lives on the site's own server and isn't shared or sold.

Google Analytics

The site also uses Google Analytics for standard visit statistics. Google Analytics sets its own cookies; you can block them with any content blocker and the editor works exactly the same.
